Given below is a diagram representing a stage during mitotic cell division in an animal cell. Examine it carefully and answer the question which follow.
(e) Mention two points of difference between mitosis and meiosis with regard to:
(i) The number of daughter cells produced.
(ii)The chromosome number in the daughter cells.

Number of daughter cells produced
During mitosis two daughter cells are produced. During meiosis four daughter cells are produced.
Chromosome number in the daughter cells
A complete set of chromosomes is passed on to each daughter cell. Only half the number of chromosomes are passed on to each daughter cell.
Each cell has a diploid (2n) number of chromosomes. Each cell has a haploid (n) number of chromosomes.
