Hameed has built a cubical water tank with lid for his house, with each other edge $1.5m$ long. He gets the outer surface of the tank excluding the base, covered with square tiles of side $25cm$. Find how much rupees he would spend on the tiles if the cost of the tiles is Rs. $360$ per dozen.

We have

area of five faces (other than the base) of the tank $=5\times {\left(1.5\right)}^2{m}^2=5\times 150\times 150{cm}^2$

Area of each square tile $=25\times 25{cm}^2=625{cm}^2$

Number of tiles required $=\frac{Areaoffivewalls}{Areaofatile}=\frac{5\times 150\times 150}{625}=180$

$=\frac{180}{12}=15$ dozens

So,the cost of the tiles at the rate of Rs. $360$ per dozen $=Rs.15\times 360=Rs.5400$
