Hameed has built a cubical water tank with lid for his house, with each other edge 1.5m long. He gets the outer surface of the tank excluding the base, covered with square tiles of side 25cm. Find how much rupees he would spend on the tiles if the cost of the tiles is Rs. 360 per dozen.

We have
area of five faces (other than the base) of the tank =5×(1.5)2m2=5×150×150cm2

Area of each square tile =25×25cm2=625cm2

Number of tiles required =AreaoffivewallsAreaofatile=5×150×150625=180
=18012=15 dozens

So,the cost of the tiles at the rate of Rs. 360 per dozen =Rs.15×360=Rs.5400
