Heart is situated in the thoracic cavity, in between the two lungs,the largest part of the heart is usually slightly tilted to the left side because the left heart (i.e, left atrium & left ventricle together) pumps to the systemic circulation since, it has to pump blood to all body parts therefore, left heart is considered to be stronger and to accommodate the heart the left lung in slightly smaller than the right lung.
