HClSA+NaOHSBNaCl+H2O or

H+OHH2O,ΔH1=13.7Kcal.

HCN(WA)+OH(SB)H2O+CN;ΔH2=3Kcal

HCNH+CN; ΔH=ΔH2ΔH1 =3(13.7) =10.7Kcal.

Hence, the heat of ionization of HCN is 10.7kcal.
