Solution
Reserve food material
Food prepared by plants for future use during stress is called reserve food material.
It is synthesized by photosynthesis in the leaves of plants.
It is then transported and stored in different parts of the plant body.
They are stored mainly in the form of starch, in the form of carbohydrates, oils, fats, and proteins.
Starch is a water-insoluble carbohydrate found in the form of small granules in rhizomes, tubers, cotyledons, etc., of plants.
Other forms of storage of food materials are fats, oils, and proteins.
Fat globules are found in the endosperm cells of coconut and other plants
On the other hand, proteins are stored in the form of small aleurone granules in the endosperm cells of grains like wheat, maize, barley, etc.
