Open in App
Solution

Pancreas:

  1. It is a glandular organ present in the abdomen.
  2. It produces pancreatic secretions which contain enzymes that help in digestion, as well as a number of hormones, including insulin.
  3. The stomach, intestines, and other organs surround the pancreas.

Functions of the pancreas:

  1. The pancreas has two primary functions:
  2. The exocrine function generates chemicals (enzymes) that aid digestion.
  3. Endocrine function: Secretes hormones that regulate the quantity of sugar in our blood.

Ways to make it healthy:

  1. Alcohol and fried/greasy/high-fat foods are two things we must completely avoid.
  2. To keep the pancreas healthy, eat meals high in protein, low in animal fats, and high in antioxidants.
  3. Lean meats, beans and lentils, clear soups, and dairy substitutes are all good options.
  4. Consume more cruciferous veggies.
  5. Cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, radish, and arugula are examples of cruciferous foods that can benefit our pancreas.
  6. Drink 8-10 glasses of water every day, regardless of the weather or the occasion.
  7. Binge drinking and the dehydration it causes can be harmful to our pancreas.
