Pancreatitis: Inflammation of the pancreas is said to be pancreatitis.

Causes:

  1. Acute pancreatitis is caused by autodigestion of the pancreas whereas chronic pancreatitis is associated with excessive consumption of alcohol.

Symptoms of an inflamed pancreas:

  1. Fever
  2. Rapid pulse
  3. Vomiting
  4. Pain in the upper abdomen
  5. Worsening of abdominal pain after2746 eating.
  6. Tenderness in the abdominal region
  7. Rapid pulse
  8. Nausea

Diagnostic tests:

  1. Blood tests
  2. Stool tests
  3. Tests for pancreatic amylase and lipase are the major diagnostic processes for this disorder. It is a marker for specificity of damage.
