Indus called Sindhu in Sanskrit. (1 Mark)
Iranians and the Greeks called it Hindos or the Indos. (1 Mark)
Bharata in Rigveda. (1 Mark)

Answer:

Our Country is known by many names, like Aryavarta, Jambudweep, Bharatvarsh, Bharat, Hindustan, India, etc. Out of all, the last three - India, Hindustan and Bharat are the most common.
Two of the words we generally use for our country are India and Bharat. The word India comes from the Indus called Sindhu in Sanskrit.
The Iranians and the Greeks who came through the northwest about 2500 years ago, were familiar with the river Indus, and called it the Hindos or the Indos. The land to the east of the river Indus was called India.
The name Bharata was used by a group of people who lived in the northwest, and are mentioned in the Rigveda, the earliest composition in Sanskrit (dated to about 3500 years ago). Later, it was used for the country.
