Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

The American Civil War resulted in a rise in the export of raw cotton from India. Because of the war Britain had to turn to India for the supplies of cotton.
It must however, be noted that for Indians themselves the supply of cotton decreased. As a result they had to purchase cotton at high prices. This led to failure of weaving industry in India.
