Solution

In Southern Indian dynasty ( Chola, Chera, and Pandya), the term 'Mauvendar, has been frequently used to denote Cheif.
There were three chiefs with two areas of power one at inland and other at the coast.
The Chief used to provide protection to a trader and in turn, they used to get tribute from these traders.
Some of the wealth from tributes were kept by Chiet but most were distributed among family members, soldiers, poets, etc.
