Solution
Muslim league was formed under the leadership of Aga Khan, the Nawab of Dhaka and Nawab Mohsin-ul-Mulk on December 30, 1906. It was founded to safeguard the rights of Indian Muslims. One of the reasons for its formation was the Hindu-Urdu controversy. The Urdu-Hindu controversy began with the demand of Hindus to replace Urdu by Hindi as official language in Devanagari Script. Congress sided with Hindi and supported the movement against Urdu and there was no other political party to support Urdu. Thus, the need of formation of a Muslim political party was felt severely.
