Question

How do Golgi apparatus help Endoplasmic reticulum?

Open in App
Solution

Golgi apparatus and Endoplasmic reticulum:

  1. Golgi apparatus is a cell organelle that is responsible for packaging cell proteins.
  2. It also helps in lipid synthesis.
  3. Whereas Endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is a cell organelle used for protein synthesis and lipid metabolism.
  4. ER is found to be in close association with Golgi apparatus and forms a network of membranes.
  5. Therefore, the membrane lipids and proteins synthesized by ER are sent to the Golgi apparatus for modification and packaging.
  6. After the modification and packaging of proteins are completed inside the Golgi vesicles they are sent to different parts of the cell.
