Greenhouse gases:

  1. All the gases that contribute to the greenhouse effect are called greenhouse gases.
  2. Some of the major greenhouse gases are - water vapor, methane, nitrous oxide, ozone, and carbon dioxide.
  3. These gases absorb and emit the heat causing the greenhouse effect.

Greenhouse effect:

  1. The warming up of the planet because of the heat trapped by various greenhouse gases is referred to as the greenhouse effect.
  2. In the first place, the greenhouse effect had benefits such as keeping the earth warm enough to sustain life here.
  3. But then, the increased greenhouse effect has resulted in global warming.
