All the biotic and abiotic components of a particular geographical area that interact among themselves are termed ecosystem.
The fundamental function of the ecosystem is the exchange of nutrients and energy with the help of a food chain or food web.
Ecosystems also provide us various benefits that we call ecosystem or nature's services.
These are the services that help us survive on this earth.
The ecosystem services include pollination, availability of air for us to breathe, providing us food and water, cleaning the environment through the process of decomposition, etc.
Human actions that disturb the ecosystem are:
Pollution: Human activities are causing soil, air, and water pollution due to which the quality of these natural resources is deteriorating.
Deforestation: Deforestation means abrupt cleaning up of the forest area for various agricultural and industrial uses, this results in the loss of habitat of animals that live in the forest leading to their extinction, increased global warming, etc.
Overpopulation: Overpopulation leads to the over-exploitation of natural resources and thus their rapid depletion.
