The sources of modern period differ from ancient period in many ways:
It is well preserved unlike earlier times which is mostly archealogical source through excavations,inscriptions which are not easily available..
It is written in an authentic manner.
It is easily available .
The modern source is more reliable as it is well written and easily understood unlike ancient source which is difficult to understand and not easily available.
