Prokaryote

  1. Prokaryote is a single-celled organism that lacks a nucleus and other cell organelles.
  2. Prokaryotes are classified into two domains- bacteria and archaebacteria.
  3. Archaebacteria are more primitive than bacteria yet they have more similarities with reference to their genomic content with eukaryotes.
  4. The cell wall of bacteria is made up of peptidoglycan but archaebacteria do not have peptidoglycan in their cell wall.
  5. Bacteria have ester-linked lipids while archaebacteria have ether-linked lipids.
