Question

How do we measure entropy?

Open in App
Solution

  1. Entropy is the measure of unit temperature required to estimate the amount of thermal energy of a device that is unavailable for work.
  2. Entropy can also be measured as a molecular disorder, or randomness, of a system.
  3. 3rd law of thermodynamics states that the entropy at absolute zero of any perfectly ordered, the crystalline material is zero. Entropy has a positive value at temperatures greater than absolute zero, which is used to calculate a substance’s absolute entropy.
