We can convince the farmer by telling him the benefits of crop rotation or mixed cropping for sustainable development of resources. by using these methods the input of fertilizers will reduce as the soil is naturally benefited from these techniques. When we grow legumes alternatively or along with the commercial crops the nitrogen content of the soil is restored. This is because the root nodules of the legumes are bacterial symbiotic associations which convert atmospheric nitrogen into usable forms and hence increase the fertility of the soil. If the same kind of crop is grown again and again on the same land then the land will be ripped off its nutrients. Hence inculcating these techniques will give the farmer improved output as well as will naturally improve the soil.
