Question

How do you know if your body is fighting a virus?

Open in App
Solution

The following symptoms show that your body is fighting a virus:

  1. A scratchy or sore throat indicates that white blood cells and antibodies are rushing to the area to fight infection, causing inflammation and irritation.
  2. A persistent sore throat is usually an indication that your body is fighting an infection and may require a little more tender loving care than usual.
  3. Chills, in addition to aches and pains, are another sign that your body is fighting a virus.
  4. A fever is our bodies' natural response to invaders and is a common early sign that your body is fighting an infection such as the flu.
  5. Because your body requires more energy to mount an effective immune response against flu viruses, you may feel fatigued.
  6. When we are ill, our immune systems expend more energy creating immune cells and proteins, such as antibodies, to combat the infection, necessitating more "fuel" to support their growth and production.
