Solution

To simplify determinant:

Simplification of determinant of a square matrix results in a scalar value.

If A is a matrix, then determinant of Ais denoted by A or detA.

Suppose that A is a 2×2 matrix. Then the determinant of Ais given by:

a11a12a21a22

DetA=a11×a22-a12×a21

where, a11,a12,a21,a22are elements of matrix A.

Example:

Take A=12342×2

detA=1×4-2×3=4-6

detA=-2
