Solution

Binomial nomenclature

  1. Binomial nomenclature gives each species a scientific name.
  2. The scientific name consists of two parts.
  3. The first is the genus name and the second is the species name.
  4. It is always written in italics (if typed) or underlined (handwritten).
  5. Genus names always begin with a capital letter.
  6. The first letter of the word species is not capitalized, though. For instance, Homo sapiens is the designation given to humans by science.
  7. Early and modern humans are both included in the genus Homo, and the species Sapiens is unique to humans.
