Question

How does a Point mutation affect the gene code

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student

Point mutation also known as gene mutation is the change in a single nucleotide or a pair of nucleotide in the segment of DNA.
It causes frame shift mutation which includes the insertion or deletion of a base pair from a segment of DNA which further alters the reading frame of codons. This also changes the protein product of that gene.
