How does implantation lead to pregnancy?

Open in App
Solution

Implantation:

  1. The process of fertilization in which sperms and ovum fuse together to form a fertilized egg results ultimately in the formation of a zygote.
  2. The fertilization takes place in the fallopian tube.
  3. The fertilized egg or zygote moves down to the uterus from the fallopian tube.
  4. The zygote which is now called blastocyst gets embedded in the endometrial lining of the uterus.
  5. The blastocyst develops as an embryo, remaining embedded into the uterine wall until the parturition.
