Weak electrolytes: Weak electrolytes are those electrolytes that do not completely dissociate into their constituent ions.

  • When the concentration of a weak electrolyte becomes very low by the dilution of a weak electrolyte, the degree of ionization of a weak electrolyte rises sharply.
  • Due to an increase in the degree of ionization, the number of ions in the solution increases.
  • Hence, the molar conductivity of a weak electrolyte rises as the concentration of solution decreases.

Strong electrolytes: Strong electrolytes are those electrolytes that completely dissociate into their constituent ions.

  • The molar conductivity of a strong electrolyte increases with the increase in concentration because as the concentration of the electrolyte increase, the number of ions in the solution increases.
