(i) PbS (ii) KI
(iii) C2H4 (iv) NO

Open in App
Solution

Reaction of ozone (O3) with:
  • (i) PbS- Ozone oxidises lead sulphide to lead sulphate. The reaction proceeds at room temperature.
PbS+4O3PbSO4Lead sulphate+4O2
  • (ii) KI- It liberates iodine from a solution of potassium iodide.
2KI+O3+H2O2KOH+O2+I2
  • (ii) C2H4- The ozone molecule cleaves the C=C double bond and gives formaldehyde and oxygen gas.
C2H4+2O32HCHOFormaldehyde+2O2
  • (iv) NO- Nitrogen monoxide reacts with ozone to produce nitrogen dioxide and oxygen,
O3+NONO2+O2
