  1. The environment is the surroundings in which we live.
  2. It consists of everything around us such as sunlight, air, water, rains, soil, mountains, etc.
  3. The surroundings are subjected to constant change by the factors that are majorly contributed by human activity.
  4. For example, climate change.
  5. A change in one component has a certain impact on other components depending upon the severity.

Environment and human health:

  1. Living entities depend upon their environment for energy requirements.
  2. Some of these requirements are pure water, clean air, unadulterated and nutritious food, a disease-free community to live in, etc.
  3. These factors are known to add to the longevity of human history.
  4. It is also a known fact that sanitation, agriculture, treated water, and personal and community hygiene have an impact on human health.
  5. One cannot overlook the fact that apart from supporting and nurturing human life, it can also cause diseases.
  6. One of the most common causes of death rate is the lack of necessities.
  7. Environmental risks can increase the chances of contracting heart diseases, cancers, and various other illnesses.
  8. Untreated drinking water, poor hygiene, and improper sanitation cause infectious diseases such as cholera, diarrhea, dengue, etc.

Impacts of the environment on human health:

  1. The environment relates to all the living and non-living things surrounding us.
  2. The environment has a great impact on human health.
  3. We interact with the environment daily.
  4. It is very much essential to keep our environment healthy to protect our lives from different environmental hazards.
  5. The environmental hazards are physical, chemical, and biological hazards.
  6. Examples of physical hazards are airborne particles, humidity, equipment design, radiations, etc.
  7. Examples of biological hazards are viruses, microbial agents, insects, rodents, animals and plants, etc.
  8. Examples of chemical hazards are pesticides, insecticides, herbicides, lead, acids, chlorine, and other caustic substances.
  9. There are a minute amount of chemicals and toxins in the daily food we eat, the breathing air, and our drinking water.
  10. The effects of these environmental hazards include cancers, respiratory system disorders asthma, allergies, and other illnesses.
  11. Many infectious diseases in this environment are all carried by pathogens.

Importance Of Health:

  1. Health is a state in which wellness of mental, physical, and social are considered.
  2. To stay healthy one needs to have a sound mind along with a physical perspective.
  3. It is required to adopt a healthy diet and lead an active lifestyle.
  4. Humans significantly contribute to the well-being of other environmental components.
  5. Healthy individuals are usually free from almost all health disorders.
  6. They are least susceptible to diseases hence increasing the life span thereby decreasing greatly the chances of suffering from pain, discomfort, and uneasiness.
  7. It can not only affect one physically but can have an impact on the mental ability too.
  8. Normalcy and excellence at work are attributes that make for a favorable and valuable asset in society.
  9. Physical fitness can boost one’s confidence as it makes one feel better about themselves.
  10. It can also keep you on your toes to perform daily activities without any ado or discomfort.
  11. Overall, wellness and health bring about radical growth in the quality of life.
