Question

How does vaccination help in the development of immunity?

Open in App
Solution

Vaccination:

  1. The process of administration of vaccine is called 'vaccination'.
  2. The vaccine is a liquid substance that is used to trigger immune responses in the body to prevent various diseases caused by microorganisms.
  3. It is made up of dead or weakened antigens.

Mechanism of development of immunity by vaccination:

  1. Through vaccination dead or living, weakened microorganisms are introduced into our body.
  2. Then our body starts recognizing the harmful proteins present in the pathogens.
  3. But as they are dead or weakened, they can't harm us.
  4. As a result, antibodies are produced to fight against the disease-causing antigens present in the vaccines.
  5. Later, when actual pathogens enter our body, the body recognizes them easily and antibodies are made spontaneously.
  6. Thus, vaccination provides immunity.
