Open in App
Solution

Vasoconstriction:

  1. Vasoconstriction refers to the narrowing and tightening of blood vessels, causing reduced blood flow.
  2. The muscles present in the walls of blood vessels constrict and limit blood flow.
  3. Vasoconstriction limits the space available for blood flow and thus blood flow is reduced.
  4. Vasoconstriction results in increased peripheral vascular resistance.
  5. This results in the increase of force with which blood flows and leads to high blood pressure.
  6. This condition is referred to as hypertension and causes damage to the heart.
