Suez canal was oped in the year November 1869 and the opening of the Suez canal has shortened the voyage by about 4460 miles from London to Bombay. Before the opening of the Suez canal the distance from London to Mumbai was 10,720 miles and now via Suez canal, it is 6,260 miles. It almost saves 23 days in time The canal cuts across the isthmus of Suez and provides navigational facilities between the Mediterranean and the Indian Ocean.
