Question

How hydration enthalpy is related to atomization enthalpy?

Open in App
Solution

Dear Student
Hydration enthalpy is the energy released when bonds of molecules are formed with ions and water molecule. It is the change of enthalpy when 1 mole of gas ions is dissolve in water to give infinitely dilute solution. So, it can be said to be the atomisation enthalpy since in a very dilute solution, the ions are far apart and equivalent to being formed by individual atoms.
