Solution
The key causes of water and air pollution are:
Urbanization: The process by which huge numbers of people are permanently concentrated in relatively limited regions, establishing cities, is known as urbanisation. More population use more resources leading to more pollution.
Deforestation: Human-caused or natural causes that lead to the cutting down of trees and reduced forest areas is called deforestation. Generally, it is the human activities of urbanisation, construction, etc., which have been the major cause of deforestation across the world.
Industrial effluents: Industrial waste is the waste that is generated by manufacturing or industrial processes. The types of industrial waste generated include cafeteria garbage, dirt and gravel, masonry and concrete, scrap metals, trash, oil, solvents, chemicals, weed grass and trees, wood and scrap lumber, and similar wastes. The industrial waste can be hazardous or non-hazardous. Both, however, can cause substantial damage to the environment if not properly managed.
Use of Detergents and Fertilizers: With rain, harmful pesticides and fertilizers penetrate through the soil and mix with groundwater causing water pollution.
