Open in App
Solution

Classification:

On the basis of their similarities and differences, living organisms are arranged into different groups and subgroups, which is termed the classification of living organisms.

Basis of classification:

Cell structure:

  1. On the basis of the complexity of cell structure, the cells are classified as prokaryotes and eukaryotes.
  2. Prokaryotes have a primitive cell structure
  3. Prokaryotic cells are cells that do not have a true nucleus and membrane-bound organelles.
  4. Prokaryotic cells are single-celled microorganisms.
  5. Prokaryotes include Bacteria and Archaea
  6. Eukaryotes have an advanced cell structure.
  7. Eukaryotic cells are cells that contain a membrane-bound nucleus and organelles.
  8. Eukaryotic cells have a nucleus enclosed within the nuclear membrane and form large and complex organisms.
  9. Protozoa, fungi, plants, and animals all have eukaryotic cells.

The number of cells:

  1. Eukaryotes are further divided into unicellular or multicellular organisms based on the number of cells they are composed of.
  2. It includes Unicellular(made of one cell) or Multicellular(made of many cells).
  3. Unicellular eukaryotes are included in the kingdom Protista.
  4. Multicellular eukaryotes are included in the kingdom of fungi, plants, and animals.
