Question

How many litres of water flows out of a pipe having an area of cross section of 5cm2 in 1 minute, if the speed of water in the pipe is 30 cm/sec ?

Open in App
Solution

Given, area of the cross section of pipe = 5cm2

Speed of the water flowing out of the pipe = 30 cm/sec

Now, volume of the water flowing out of the pipe in one second = area of the cross section×30=5×30=150cm3

The volume of the water flowing out of the pipe in one minute = 60×150=9000cm3

Since 1000cm3=1litre

So, 9000cm3=9litres

Hense, Volume of the water flowing out of the pipe in one minute is 9 litres.
