The correct option is A $5$
Quantity of water in the mixture
$= \frac{3}{7 + 3} \times 30 = 9$ litres
Let the amount of water to be added be $x$ .
Then, $(30 + x) \times \frac{40}{100} = 9 + x$
$\Rightarrow 120 + 4 x = 90 + 10 x$
$\Rightarrow 10 x - 4 x = 120 - 90$
$\Rightarrow x = 5$
Hence, $5$ litres of water should be added in the mixture.
