How many net ATP is made in glycolysis?

Open in App
Solution

ATP made in glycolysis

  1. Two ATPs are initially planted when glucose is converted to glucose-6-phosphate
  2. Fructose-6-phosphate is converted to fructose 1,6 diphosphate.
  3. Four ATPs are released (in pairs) in two other reactions.
  4. 1,3 biphosphoglycerate is converted to 3 phosphoglycerates as well.
  5. phosphoenolpyruvate is converted to pyruvate.
  6. Thus the total benefit is 2 ATP in glycolysis.
