Question

How many number of straight lines are equally inclined to both the axes?

  1. 2

Open in App
Solution

The correct option is A 2
We know that the coordinate axes meets at right angle or 90°

The lines that are equally inclined to the coordinates axes must be inclined at 45° or (90°+45°) to both the axes.

Slope of the lines are 1 and −1,

Since, tan(45°) = 1, and tan(90°+45°) = −1.

Therefore, the only possible lines are y=x and y=x.

Thus, the number of straight lines that are equally inclined to both coordinate axes is 2.
