We know that the coordinate axes meets at right angle or 90°.

The lines that are equally inclined to the coordinates axes must be inclined at 45° or (90+45°) to both the axes.

Slope of the lines are 1 and −1, since tan(45°)=1 and tan(90°+45°)=−1.

Therefore, the only possible lines are y=x and y=−x.

Thus, the number of straight lines that are equally inclined to both coordinate axes is 2.
