Figure A is divided into four equal parts, out of which, one is shaded.
Figure A represents 14.
Figure B is divided into twenty equal parts.
Here, we need a fraction which is equivalent to the fraction 14 and having 20 as the denominator since figure B has twenty parts.
14=x20
By cross-multiplication,
4x=20
x=5
Therefore, the ratio equivalent to ratio 14 is 520.
So, 5 parts should be shaded in figure B.
