3-phosphoglyceraldehyde (3-PGAL) is formed from the fructose-1,6-bisphosphate and two redox equivalents are removed from it. The redox equivalents are removed in the form of hydrogen atoms and are added onto the NAD+ and the 3-PGAL is oxidised with inorganic phosphate to give 1,3-bisphosphoglycerate.
