Question

How telomerase enzyme effect cancer?

Open in App
Solution

The malignant cancerous cell divides rapidly and more often as compared to normal cells of the body. As the number of divisions in normal cell advances their telomeres become short and soft , so the cell might die but if the telomerase enzyme is present in abundance then these cells can escape the process of apoptosis by as the enzyme telomerase prevent the telomeres to become further shorter and such cells get transformed from normal to cancerous cells.
