Question

How to convert oxidation potential to reduction potential?

Open in App
Solution

Ereduction pottential = -Eoxidation pottential

Reduction potential (also known as redox potential, oxidation / reduction potential, ORP, pE, ε, or ) is a measure of the tendency of a chemical species to acquire electrons and thereby be reduced. Reduction potential is measured in volts (V), or millivolts (mV).

Standard Oxidation Potentials. The standard oxidation potential is much like thestandard reduction potential. It is the tendency for a species to be oxidized atstandard conditions. It is also written in the form of a half reaction.
