Solution

The rules for naming oxoacids of Phosphorus.

The oxoacids of P follow the given rules for naming:

The prefix

a) Meta acid is used for the acid obtained by the loss of one water molecule.
b) Pyro acid is used for the acid obtained by heating two molecules with loss of one water molecule.
c) Hypo is generally used for the acid having lower oxygen content than the parent acid.

Orthophosphoric acid is the simplest acid of the phosphoric acid series (in which phosphorus is present in +5 oxidation state).
While in hypophosphorus acid , oxidation state of P is +1. It has lowest number of oxygen amongst all acids of P. Its formula is H3PO2
