Question

How to distinguish between d and l isomer in Optical Isomerism for Coordination Compounds?

Open in App
Solution

The concept of dextro and leavo is purely from experiment. Not by seeing the molecule you can tell. But in biomolecules majority of the isomers are represented as D or L. This is called absolute configuration. If the OH group on the penultimate carbon (ie one prior to the last carbon) is right its D and if its left its L isomer
