Question

How was water transferred from the waterbodies to the fountains on the upper floor in the Golconda fort?

Open in App
Solution

Water is initially transported to large reservoirs in the ground floor of the fort from nearby waterbodies. It is then tranported to upper floors in the fort with the help of a persian wheel. This mechanism consists of a large wheel which is pulled by animals like bulls. As the bulls pull the wheel, it rotates carrying water from the ground level to tanks in the upper floors. Clay pipes are laid which helps in transporting water in the same level.
