The grafting method involves attachment of a graft to a rooted plant. The graft is also known as scion and the rooted plant is called as stock. The two plants are selected with respect to desirable traits. When the grafting method is performed, the tissues of two plants are attached and allowed to grow. This leads to the production of a variety which shows the presence of both the characters. If the parent plants have traits like high yielding plant and resistant to herbicides. The new plant variety which is cultivated will have both the characters as high yield and resistant crop.
