Dear Student,

When barium chloride is added to hydrochloric acid no new substance is formed.

BaCl₂+ HCl $\to$ BaCl₂+ HCl

When barium chloride is added to sulphuric acid, barium sulphate new precipitate is formed.

BaCl₂ + H₂SO₄ $\to$ BaSO₄ + 2HCl

BaSO₄, white precipitate is formed.
