How will you carry out the following conversion?
Conversion of Benzene into 4−Nitroaniline
Benzene is first nitrated using a nitrating reagent (mixture of conc.HNO3+conc.H2SO4) followed by reduction of nitro group.
The nitro group is reduced under the presence of (Sn+HCl) to give aniline.
The amine group of aniline is then protected by acetylation.
Then a nitro group is attached at para position by nitration which is further hydrolyzed to give the desired product.
Ortho product is not formed owing to steric crowding at ortho position.
