How will you carry out the following conversions?
(i) Ethanol to ethene
(ii) Bromoethane to ethanol

(i) Ethanol reacts with concentrated sulphuric acid at 170oC and gives ethene. The reaction is as follows: ​

C2H5OHEthanol170°CConc. H2SO4 CH2=CH2Ethene+H2O

(ii) Bromoethane reacts with dilute potassium hydroxide to form ethanol and potassium bromide. The reaction is as follows:

C2H5BrBromoethane+KOHAueousC2H5OHEthanol+KBr
