Solution
By the convention, we know that like charges repel each other and unlike charges attract each other.
We know that electron is a negatively charged particle and has a relative charge of -1.
When we pass the beam of electrons or cathode rays through the electric field, a beam of electrons will deviate towards the positive terminal of the electric field indicating that the electron is negatively charged.
