Open in App
Solution

Experiment to test the presence of starch in leaves:

  1. Take two potted plants of the same kind.
  2. Place one in the dark and another in sunlight for 72 hours
  3. Perform the iodine test with the leaves of both plants by boiling them in alcohol followed by putting iodine solution on the leaves.
  4. Note down the change in the color of both the leaves.

Observation:
A blue-black colour will be observed on the leaves of the plant kept in sunlight, indicating the presence of starch.
However, the same will not be observed on the leaves of the plant kept in the dark room, indicating the absence of starch.
